Animation Friday - Poppies Galore

As promised in last Monday's Art Tip, here are animations of the process of the two poppy paintings I featured. One on a black background and the other on white.

I'll be giving one away in just over a week - all you have to do is leave a comment on last Monday's post, telling me which you prefer. Good luck!

There'll be more Animation Friday discoveries over at my poppet!

Have just discovered that the wonderful French artist Nathalie Lete, who I posted about here, is painting at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast on Monday. Am definitely moving heaven and earth to be there.

Colour options

I'm working on a series of paintings (yes, Kym, you know I love a good series!) called 'Collectables' to be submitted to the Toowoomba Grammar Art Show, inspired by the home of a friend who is a true 'Collector'. This small painting is from a pic I took of one of her "Mamie" Cookie Jars that she loves.

I'm spending far too much time on this for the price I put on the painting (once again I've entered with painting names and prices and haven't actually finished the paintings yet - one year it will be different, I'll actually have paintings done before I enter and I'll be VERY happy!) but I'm not happy with my first colour-way, with the purple table (it was done in the very middle of last night), so have photoshopped up a few more options...

I think whatever colour I need to add some 'weight' and shadows to the table, but right now I'm thinking the red version at the bottom left.

What do you think?

Poppies are finished

Here is the finished pic of the poppies I started earlier. I'm really happy with the way the black gesso base gave an elegant tone to the whole piece.
The two canvases measure 30cm x 120cm, (so together they're 60cm x 120cm) and could be hung either side of a window or door, or hung together.
They're priced at $750 for the pair and are currently on display in my home studio. Just let me know if you're interested in these pieces or similar!
